Finding Mr. Right and the Right Applicant

Some people may find this idiotic and crazy, but I do believe that finding the right applicant for the job is akin to finding a suitable husband. What an odd comparison, you say. But come to think of it. We, girls, have a lot of issues in finding Mr. Right. Will he be a good father? A good provider? Does he have a sense of humor? Is he healthy? Things like that. Same goes with headhunting.

A headhunter is someone who specializes in matching highly skilled professionals with corporate clients. It is the task of a headhunter to identify the most qualified person for the job. Among the things that she takes into consideration would probably be age, work experience, personality, education, etc. She can be an indepedent contractor or she  may work through an Executive Search agency. Just like a hard to get woman on the first date, a headhunter may act cold during the initial interview. This is because, she is measuring the willingness and determination of the applicant to work for the company.  So you ought to give your best if you want to impress her.

I am a 25-year old woman and it is but natural that I am already searching for a possible lifetime partner.  Just like a headhunter, there are certain things that I am looking  for in a man. He’s got to be really nice, respectful and decent. Basically, I just want to fall in love with someone who can make me laugh and somebody who believes in marriage. Yes, unfortunately, I’m not that choosy hehe :)

Home Spacious Home

Maximizing the space of our 45 sqm house is such a tough job. We just can’t purchase large furnitures anymore because we are already running out of ideas on where we are going to put this and that. Truth is, I don’t really know if we can call it a house. I think it’s more of a room. My parents’ plan was to buy a bigger house once me and my siblings have already finished college but dad passed away two years before my graduation so the plan to get a housing loan through PAGIBIG was put on hold. Even though my brother and I are already working, we still have to think about a lot of things. Besides, houses in Manila are very expensive and we never wanted to live in Cavite or Laguna or Bulacan. I’m not saying that those places are ugly. It’s just not practical to commute everyday because our jobs are based here in Manila. Going back to my “spacing” problem, I’m considering of buying on wall speakers. Every New Year’s Eve, it is a tradition here in Tondo to be as noisy as you can. We have a superstitious belief that this will drive bad luck away. And since we don’t have speakers, we use kitchen utensils to create noise. It’s fun but next year, it would be better if we’re going to have our own speakers. I want something that is inexpensive, with high quality, and will only require minimal space.

A Taste of Italian Cuisine

The food was excellent but I almost choked when the waitress gave us the bill. I didn’t know that eating in an Italian restaurant is that expensive. Of course, I was aware that the prices wouldn’t be the same as eating in McDonald’s but I was still surprised (I think the right term was “shocked” hehe) that the bill was more than triple of what I expected. Good thing is I really didn’t have to worry about it because my friend paid for everything. She just got promoted to a higher position so it was her treat.

The menu includes a large selection of pasta dishes, pizzas and desserts. We ordered chicken spaghetti and pepperoni pizza for the main course, and chocolate sundae and tiramisu for dessert.  I love iced tea but for the record, I decided to drink just water. The ambience was intimate with dim lighting and there were paintings hanging on the wall. Perfect for couples who like the romantic atmosphere. There were just a few other diners when we dined there. I’m not so sure why there were very few customers but I’m guessing the reason for that is that it’s really costly to dine in Italian restaurants.

I mentioned this experience to my aunt in California who coincidentally loves Italian dishes. She is a regular customer of an Italian Restaurant in San Diego and she said it’s really expensive but still a good value for her money. One of the most famous Italian restaurants in my Aunt Letty’s place is Trattoria Acqua. This restaurant offers superb banquet facilities in La Jolla California making it a perfect venue to host a party or a wedding reception.

If you will ask me , I still want to come back to that restaurant. Never mind that their dishes are very expensive. Never mind that the waiters and waitresses made me feel uncomfortable with their “too polite” gestures. And yes, never mind that next time, I will have to pay for my food :) I honestly believe that Italian Cuisine is the best!

Smile Makeover

When I was in elementary, one of my friends told me that yellowish teeth is actually healthier than white which I found hard to believe. As we all know it, white teeth makes a person’s smile brighter and it is a beauty asset. I’m not exactly an OC (obsessive-compulsive) when it comes to teeth but it is one of the first things I notice everytime I get to meet new people. I appreciate it a lot if my new acquaintant has a perfect set of teeth especially with the girls because it only shows that she has good hygiene practices. If only I could turn back time, I’d take care of my teeth better. I’d visit my dentist every six months, I’d eat less chocolates, and I’d still brush my teeth when I come home from a hardwork day no matter how tired I am. I’m still lucky because my dentist told me that it’s not yet too late in my case. I just have to brush and floss at least twice daily, use mouthwash, visit him every 6 months, and minimize eating sweets. Fact is, he has a lot of advise and the problem with me is that I’m too stubborn to follow everything he said. I just can’t stop eating sweets every night. Midnight munchings wouldn’t be a major problem if I’d brush my teeth afterwards, but most of the time, I’m already too sleepy to get up and go to the bathroom and brush. I know I’m giving the impression of poor oral hygiene but I am in the process of improving it. As a matter of fact, I’ve already set an appointment with my dentist for cleaning. If yellowing teeth is bothering you, consider having your teeth whitened with cosmetic dentistry San Diego California.  San Diego Teeth Whitening will dramatically improve your smile which will also enhance your self-confidence.
